Hello! Please visit my Facebook page HOPE Center for Learning. I am part of a wonderful community that supports dyslexia and I try to find posts that will help parents and children with their journey!
Today, I came across a post that said you may have dyslexia if telling time on a clock is really hard. It is yet another sign I wish I would have known for my own daughter! Sometimes as a parent I do blame by myself for wishing I saw the signs earlier. In fact, if I am honest, I always knew there was something different but everyone around her said she was fine, she was a late bloomer, she was highly intelligent. When in fact those are signs themselves! So we need to stop being so hard on ourselves and know it is never too late to teach our children reading strategies that will last a lifetime. Please contact me if you would like more information.
Hello! My name is Jennifer Theel and I am a teacher of 20 years, a wife of almost 20 years and a mom of two wonderful children, ages 12 and 15. My younger daughter has dyslexia and she was the one who inspired me to get my Orton-Gillingham training in order to help her with her dyslexia. I can honestly say it is the first program that has helped her! Starting this blog is not that easy because I am not that great with technology! However, my daughter inspires me to push myself further each day. I see how everyday is a struggle for her and my motto really has become, if she can do it, so can I. So, tonight I have started. I am truly passionate about helping my daughter and helping other children with dyslexia. My hope is through this blog, we can bring awareness to a much deserved community of learners. Dyslexic children are some of the most fascinating, creative, humorous children I have ever taught. It is a privilege to teach them every day! Well, here is to hoping I can figure out how to post this. :) Sometimes, you just have to take that leap and jump!
